Twelve ARM-member companies submitted 62 projects for consideration in 14 categories for the 2005 Building Excellence Awards competition.
The judging took place on Monday, October 24, 2005 at the ARM office. Many thanks go out to our judges who took an entire day out of their schedules to judge the projects. The judges were: Brad Burke (NRMCA); Matt Zeller (CPAM); Jim Niehoff (PCA); Jason Kruger (Holcim); Dan Frentress (ARM) and Larry Koenig (ARM).

ARM members and their guests are invited to attend the Building Excellence Awards Banquet that will be held Wednesday evening, December 14 at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis. Social hour begins at 5:30 pm with dinner beginning at 6:30 pm. The program will begin at approximately 7:15 pm. A hospitality room will be open at the conclusion of the event. The Emcee for the ceremony will be Brad Burke (NRMCA). Tickets are $75.

The ARM convention will be held Wednesday, December 14 and Thursday, December 15 at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis. Special guests at the convention will include Bob Garbini (NRMCA); Pamela Whitted (NSSGA); Jim Niehoff (PCA) and Dawn Faull (NAHB). The convention will cover topics ranging from ARM’s CLSM program to trucking issues and from legislative updates to national market updates. Other topics covered will be the pervious demonstration project at MnRoad, committee reports and aggregate property tax issues.
There will be two afternoon sessions on Wednesday, December 14 before the Building Excellence Awards banquet. (A separate registration is required for the banquet.) There will be a hospitality room open at the conclusion of the banquet.
Room reservations should be made directly with The Depot by calling 612-375-1700. A block of rooms is being held at the convention rate of $99 + for a king and $159 for a historic suite until November 14. Rates and availability cannot be guaranteed after Monday, November 14.

For the first time, sponsorships are available for the ARM Building Excellence Awards banquet. Sponsorships are also once again available for the ARM convention.
Sponsorship of both events includes a table for eight at the awards banquet a $600 value! The sponsor is listed in both the awards and convention programs as well as on signs posted at both events. The sponsor receives recognition in the ARM e-bulletin and on the ARMofMN.com website. Cost of sponsoring the entire event is $1,000. Other levels of sponsorship are also available.

Make sure you’re at the table! North Central Regional Work Plan Meeting November 18, 2005 in Bloomington. Coordinating ready mixed concrete association initiatives at the state and national levels produces synergies that increase effectiveness and reduce costs.
Regional Work Plan Meetings exist to achieve these goals, by providing an opportunity to gather the leadership of all of the ready mixed associations in your region, along with NRMCA leadership and Regional Promotion Group leaders. You’re invited to be at the table at the next gathering:

This is an open meeting and all members of the state organizations’ leadership and membership, as well as NRMCA Board members in your state are invited. You are welcome to pass this invitation on to anyone you feel should attend.
Take your place at the table and you’ll help make sure that state and national promotion, education, advocacy and research initiatives are coordinated in an efficient way. To attend, please use the attached response form.

Hotel reservations can be made by calling the Courtyard by Marriott at 952-876-0100 and asking for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association $139 group rate. Rooms are limited, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cutoff date for reservations is November 3, so please make your reservations early.

Plan to attend the November 17, 2005 meeting of the ARM Board of Directors. The meeting will begin at 1:00 pm and will be held at the Royal Cliff Meeting Center off of Cliff Road and Cedar Avenue in Eagan. October 1, 2005 marked the beginning of the 2005-2006 ACI/MnDOT certification program. Registrations are coming in on a regular basis. A new payment feature was added this year. Registrations can now be made via credit card payment.
